Standard Keys flats fishing techniques for tarpon, bonefish, and permit apply. Seasonality: Tarpon, bonefish, and permit are the premier flats species at Vaca Key Bight in the Florida Keys, with tarpon most reliably encountered from April through July during the peak spring tarpon migration. Bonefish are resident year-round with the best sight-fishing conditions in spring and fall. Permit cruise the flats year-round.
