The Windy.app database contains tens of thousands of outdoor spots in 243 countries, where you can practice surfing, yachting, fishing, paragliding, and other sports.
To help you navigate through all this incredible diversity, in this post we have compiled the list of Windy.app’s top 15 countries by a number of spots — think outdoor centers of the world as chosen by our users.
No surprises, the leader of the list by a wide margin is the United States with 11,135 outdoor spots. It leads the way thanks to its large size (4th in the world after Russia, Canada and China), diverse landscapes and natural areas from mountains and deserts to waterfalls and oceans, and developed tourist infrastructure with lots of services.
Therefore, without exaggeration, you can get engaged in absolutely every possible sport, but the greater fame of the United States brought national parks and trails for hiking and biking, endless beaches of California and Hawaii for surfing with the world’s biggest waves, and maybe some fishing spots on the coast of Alaska or its deepest wood lakes.
Find out what countries are catching up with the US as if they were telling about their major destinations and spots themselves. For this purpose, we have quoted their official travel sites.

The country includes 6,000 islands and islets scattered in the Greek Seas, of which only 227 islands are inhabited. The Greek coastline offers a diverse landscape: beaches stretching over many kilometers, sheltered bays and coves, sandy beaches, sand dunes, pebble beaches, wetlands and deltas, caves formed by seawater, and dark-colored sand in volcanic areas.
But Greece is a popular destination not only because of its amazing islands but also because the mainland offers plenty of options for a memorable Mediterranean holiday!
