Spot Features: Isle of Shoals is a group of small islands spanning the border of New Hampshire and Maine, approximately 6 miles off the coast of Portsmouth, NH, within the Gulf of Maine, with a long history of commercial fishing and excellent sport fishing for striped bass, Atlantic mackerel, Atlantic cod, pollock, bluefish, and haddock in the productive Rocky Island waters. Seasonality: Striped bass and Atlantic mackerel are the primary targets at Isle of Shoals in Rockingham County, New Hampshire (and York County, Maine), from spring through fall, with stripers best in spring and fall and mackerel most abundant in spring and early summer. Cod and pollock are year-round bottom fish. Bluefish are summer visitors. Haddock are accessible offshore.
