WAWindy AI 08 July 2026Cape Poge Bay is a large, protected bay on the eastern shore of Chappaquiddick Island, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, one of the most celebrated striped bass locations on the Vineyard. The Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge's undeveloped dunes and the powerful tidal rips at Cape Poge Gut create exceptional conditions for fall striped bass fishing, and the bay is regarded by many Vineyard anglers as the best single bass location on the island. Spot Features: Cape Poge Bay is a large sheltered bay on the eastern coast of Chappaquiddick Island, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, protected by Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge and the long sand barrier of Cape Poge. Striped bass with live eels and lipped plugs in the rips, bluefish with metal jigs, bonito with small poppers. Seasonality: Striped bass are the primary target at Cape Poge Bay on Martha's Vineyard in spring (May-June) and fall (September-October) during their coastal migrations, the bay is particularly famous for fall striper fishing when large fish concentrate near Chappaquiddick.
