Routes with weather at each point for sailing, cycling and hiking
Planning a bike ride, a hike, or a road trip? With Forecast along the route in the Windy.app for iOS, you can see what the wind, temperature, and precipitation will be at each point of your route — exactly at the time you will be there.
The feature is available in the Windy.app for iOS for users who have chosen Hike or Bike in the activities of their profile.

Why this feature is useful to you
- The forecast for the whole route, not just for one point. Weather at the start and at the finish can be very different. See how the wind, temperature, and precipitation will change along the way.
- The forecast for the time you will be at each point. The app calculates when you will reach each part of the route based on your start time and average speed.
- Your own routes. Upload a GPX file of a route you have already planned, connect your Strava account, or create a new route right in the app.
- For hiking, biking, and driving. Choose Hiking, Bicycle, or Car mode, and the app will calculate the time on the route.
How to use it
1. Add Hike or Bike to the activities in your profile.
2. Tap the Forecast along the route banner at the bottom of the Home screen.

3. Add a route: upload a GPX file, import a route from Strava, or create a new one by choosing the start and end points on the map.
4. Choose the mode — Hiking, Bicycle, or Car — and set the start time and your average speed.
5. Check the forecast along the route: the distance and the time on the route, as well as the weather for each part of your trip.
6. Save the route to come back to it later.
What you see on the route
- Wind direction. Know in advance where you will have a headwind, a tailwind, or a crosswind. This is especially important for cyclists: a headwind slows you down and takes much more energy, while a tailwind helps you ride faster.
- Wind speed and gusts. Strong gusts can make a ride uncomfortable or even dangerous, especially on open roads and mountain passes.
- Temperature. Know what to wear and what to take with you. Learn more about the ideal temperature for cycling and how to dress for it.
- Weather conditions and precipitation. Find the dry window for your trip or prepare for the rain.
- Sunrise and sunset times. Plan to be back before dark.
Forecast along the route works for routes on land. Planning a sailing route? Use Weather Routing in the WindHub app for iOS — a separate marine weather app by the Windy.app team.
