Despite its location in one of the world's most densely populated cities, it supports excellent summer flounder, scup, striped bass, and bluefish fishing accessible by boat and from the piers along Shore Road. Spot Features: Gravesend Bay is a tidal bay in Brooklyn, New York, at the southern tip of Brooklyn where the Verrazano Narrows transitions to Lower New York Bay. The bay features diverse bottom structure with channels, sandy flats, and rocky areas that concentrate diverse species. Summer flounder are targeted by drifting Gulp baits and bucktails along the bay bottom, scup with small jigs and worms, striped bass with eels and plugs in the strong tidal current. Seasonality: Summer flounder (fluke) are the primary summer target in Gravesend Bay from June through August. Scup (porgy) are abundant from late spring through early fall (May-October). Striped bass move through in spring (April-June) and fall (September-October). Bluefish follow baitfish through summer and fall.
