Cronulla is a popular spot located in the southern suburbs of Sydney. It’s a great location for intermediate surfers, especially during the winter months when the waves are bigger and more consistent.
Here are a few things you should know before you go:
- Surfing conditions: Cronulla has a range of surf breaks suitable for intermediate surfers, including Greenhills, Wanda Beach, and Elouera. During the winter months (June-August), the surf can range from 3-6 ft, with occasional larger swells. You can check the forecast before you go to get an idea of what to expect.
- Wetsuit: the water temperature can range from 16-20°C (61-68°F), so it’s recommended to wear a wetsuit to keep warm. A 3/2mm or 4/3mm wetsuit should be sufficient.
- Facilities: there are a lot of facilities, including shops, cafes, and public toilets and showers. There are also several schools and rental shops if you need to hire equipment or take a lesson.
- Safety: As with any spot, it’s important to be aware of the conditions and your own abilities. Always check the weather and surf conditions before you go, and be mindful of any hazards such as rips or submerged rocks.
