Spot Features: Wellfleet Bay in Wellfleet, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, on the eastern side of Cape Cod adjacent to the Massachusetts Audubon Society's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, is a beautiful and productive estuary supporting striped bass, bluefish, summer flounder, tautog, and black sea bass fishing in the sheltered bay and the adjacent Cape Cod Bay. Seasonality: Striped bass and bluefish are the primary targets in Wellfleet Bay in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, on the outer Cape Cod, from May through October, with stripers best in spring and fall and bluefish most abundant in summer. Summer flounder (fluke) are the prime summer bottom species. Tautog and black sea bass are warm-season structure fish.
