Among 100+ Windy.app features, there are always one or two, or even three small ones that you didn't know about, right? Even if you're a true weather and outdoor expert using the app. Meanwhile, these may be small, but important features.
For example, you can set up a weather widget for a spot right in the app. Why use a widget? In this way, you will get weather forecast for the four of the most important weather parameters — wind, temperature, precipitation and pressure — right on the Home screen of the app for all of your favorite spots at once. No need to go to the spots screens to learn this weather data. This will help you to save time on decision making whatever to go on the spot or not.
Here's exactly how you can do it. Let's take iOS as an example:
1. From the Home screen go to the Main menu, then Settings and Units. Choose one basic weather parameter you want to see in the Weather widget (for the nearest spot) and Favorite spots. It could be the same or different.
In Windy.app Weather Widgets comes in three types:
The widget shows one of the four weather parameters of primary importance for anyone who does active recreation, regardless of the sport, or people who just traveling:
You can select any of these parameters by yourself, so it can be a temperature widget, wind widget, or pressure widget. But the widget shows not only that, but several parameters at once together with weather conditions (clear, cloudy, and so on).
The forecast is available for the next five days in the Nearest spot widget or any point on the map widget, and for the next sevel days in Favorite spots widget.
2. To change the weather parameter, tap on the "Settings" icon in the top right corner of the widget, then on "Configure". You can also do it in Settings in the Main menu.
3. Tap "Select spot" to use another spot instead of the nearest spot or any point on the map. Tap "Use Nearest Spot" to return to using it again.
4. Tap on "Disable Widget" to delete it. In this way, your Home screen will return the the original design with the learest and favorite spots, but no weather widgets.
