Tip #13. Get the weather forecast for any point on the map

Among 100+ Windy.app features, there are always one or two, or even three small ones that you didn't know about, right? Even if you're a true weather and outdoor expert using the app. Meanwhile, these may be small, but important features.

For example, you can get a weather forecast for any point on the Weather Map in the app. Why watch such a forecast? It will be useful for those who will not find the desired location in the Windy.app's database of spots for outdoor activities or it is not a spot at all, but just any place. So you can find out the forecast for absolutely any point in just two clicks.

Here’s exactly how you can do it:

1. Open the Weather Map from the Home screen of the application or from the page of any spot. In the latter case, click on the map icon in the upper right corner to the right of the wind rose.

2. Click on any point on the map that you want. For example, somewhere on the east coast of the USA in Virginia. On the small window that appears you see the geographic coordinates of this point (longitude and latitude) and the wind forecast: direction and speed. By the way, if you know the coordinates of a point or a spot, you can enter them in the search for spots on the Home screen and find it on the map and get the forecast for it as well.

3. Change the map layer to get wind gusts, swell, or precipitation forecasts. Swipe the calendar at the bottom of the screen to get a forecast 10 days ahead or 10 days back. Then, click on the window to go to the forecast page for that point with advanced data.

4. Get advanced weather forecast just like for any spot in the Windy.app's database: change weather models and weather profiles, explore wind rose and individual weather elements, and so on. Here you can also watch the weather for 10 days into the future and the past.

5. Scroll down the screen to find out the nearest weather stations to your chosen point. Compare the models data with the station data to see which one matches more often, which means it’s more accurate.

6. See the weather history for your desired location by going to the Archive section, and from there to the Detailed Archive for even more data on wind, precipitation, temperature, and pressure.

9. If you have moved to one of the spots and lost your chosen spot, you can still find it. To do this, go back to the Home screen of the application and tap the search icon in the upper right corner. Here you see the recent spots you have searched, including the spot you selected. Clicking on it will bring you back to the map in that point.
