Tip #21. Create a personal spot in the app
Among 100+ Windy.app features, there are always one or two, or even three that you didn't know about, right? Even if you're a true weather and outdoor expert using the app. Meanwhile, these may be important features.
For example, you can create a personal spot in the app. This can be useful if you haven’t found the spot you need among the hundreds of thousands of popular spots in the app database, but want to put it on a map. It could be your home city, a beach near it, or any other place. Personal spot helps you get the same quick and accurate weather forecast for it as for other spots. So you also don’t have to search for it every time.
Here’s exactly how you can do it:
1. From the Home screen of the app or from the Spot page, go to the Weather Map and click on the point on the map you want to create a personal spot for. Then click on the “+”.

2. In the window that appears think of a name for the spot, select a sport or more, check if you want the spot to be public or remain visible only to you, and click “Add”.

3. Now your spot appears in the application database and on the map. The green star on the right means that it is also automatically added to your Favorite spots so you can find it. Important: without adding a spot to Favorites, it will not be visible in the app.

4. Go to the spot’s page to get the weather forecast and other data.

5. In the Windy.app, you can do exactly the same things with your personal spot as you do with other spots. The list of actions is available by the three-dot icon next to the spot name.

6. If you made a spot public and you want to help other users to know more about it, fill in the Spot Info section. For this write a small review on the spot and send it to us.

7. The spot has also appeared on the Home screen of the app in the Favorite spots section. To always have it at the top, tap on it and hold your finger for a second. In the window that opens, select “Pin” (and “Unpin” to cancel the action).

8. You can activate a weather widget for your personal spot, too. To do this, click on the gear icon and select "Select spot". Find your personal spot in the list of recently viewed spots, and set it.
