Tip #20. Use the wind bar for a quick forecast for 10 days
Among 100+ Windy.app features, there are always one or two, or even three that you didn't know about, right? Even if you're a true weather and outdoor expert using the app. Meanwhile, these may be important features.
For example, you can use the wind bar for a quick forecast. Why to use wind bar? This incredibly simple and handy tool will help you get a feel for the wind situation on the spot in a matter of seconds. In particular, this way you will know on which of the next 3, 5 or 10 days the wind will be stronger. The number of days depends on the selected weather model. You can also see how the wind acting was during the same period in the past.
Here's exactly how you can do it:
1. From the Home screen of the app or from the Weather Map, open your favorite or nearest spot. Let's take the East London surf spot in South Africa as an example.
The wind bar is located between the list of weather models and the forecast table. Respectively you can see when there will be wind and even its approximate speed.
The number of days is determined by the weather model. For example, one model gives 3 days forecast, another gives 5 days forecast and the third model gives 10 days forecast. This cannot be changed. But you can change the model to get a bigger forecast.
You can also find out what the wind has been for the past 3–10 days by clicking on the arrow to the left of the wind bar.

2. The colors of the wind bar correspond to the standard colors set in the application for wind conditions ranging from 0 m/s (no wind) to 40 m/s (hurricane wind). You will find the same colors on the Wind Map as the weather map layer, in the forecast table on the spot screen and in all other places.

3. You can change the colors to your liking thanks to the Customize function. To do so, simply click on the color scale on the map or on the "+" in the Weather profiles screen.

4. You can also use the wind bar directly on the App Home screen by activating the weather widget for the blissful spot or any point on the map of your choice and favorite spots. In the first case, the wind bar is limited to 5 days, and in the second case to 7 days, as well as the choice of a weather model.

5. To activate the widget, go to Settings on the main menu on the Home screen and elsewhere in the app, and then to Units.
