Tip #19. Check the basic forecast right on the app's Home screen
Among 100+ Windy.app features, there are always one or two, or even three that you didn't know about, right? Even if you're a true weather and outdoor expert using the app. Meanwhile, these may be important features.
For example, you can make a series of simple actions to customize the application's Home screen to check the basic forecast right on it. Why customize the screen? So you can put the three or four basic weather elements on it: temperature, precipitation, wind, and atmospheric pressure with the forecast range from a real-time information for up to 7 days in advance. By putting all these elements together on the Home screen, you will get it right after you open the app. In some cases, having a basic forecast is sufficient and you don't need to go to the Spot screen or Weather Map and spend extra time studying the forecast.
Here's exactly how you can do it:
1. Open the app and go to Settings, then to Units, from the Main menu on the Home screen.

2. Here you see two widgets: one for any spot of your choice that appears at the very top of the Home screen (Widget), and one for all your favorite spots that are located further down the screen, of which there may be more than a dozen.

3. Set the precipitation weather element for the first widget and air temperature for the second. Return to the Home screen.
4. You now see all three basic weather elements on the screen:
- precipitation in the first widget for the next five days, as well as general weather conditions and air temperature;
- wind speed and direction in almost real-time according to the three weather stations closest to you current location;
- temperature for today and the next seven days as a color bar, as well as precipitation, and wind speed and direction in the forecast for today (which you can easily compare with the station data above)

5. Go back to Settings and change the widget values to combine all three main basic weather elements as you like.
